Is the Horseplay sign up bonus worth it?

Step 1: Sign up for a new account

Visit Horseplay’s website or download the app on your iPhone. I chose to sign up through the website for practical purposes. However, the steps are exactly the same no matter which device you’re using. Click “Sign Up” at the top-right corner of the screen to get started.

Step 2: Enter account details

Enter your first name, last name, and email address on the following page before creating a new password and clicking “Next.”

Enter your address, city, and zip code. Choose your state of residence from the drop-down menu. Then, click “Next” again.

On the final page, enter your birthday in MM/DD/YYYY format along with your nine-digit SSN. Then, type in your mobile phone number. Check the box to confirm that you’re 21+ years old and that you agree with Horseplay’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Step 3: Verify your account

You should get an email that indicates your Horseplay User ID, which you’ll need in case you decide to contact support via email down the line. 

Note that there’s no need for email verification before you can deposit funds.

Step 4: Enter promo code

Horseplay is a great workaround site for players in states where sweepstakes gaming has been effectively outlawed, but there are much better alternatives if you live in a permitted state. You’ll have access to around 218 games, all of which are determined by the results of horse races. 

While the 100% first-purchase bonus up to $250 looks promising, the 10x playthrough requirement on matching Bonus Credits may make an initial withdrawal more difficult. The requirement must be completed within 30 days; purchased Credits have a separate 1x playthrough requirement. 

I do love the sheer number of tournaments on deck and weekly/weekend cashback available, so if you’re comfortable with the 10x playthrough requirement on matching Bonus Credits, there’s no reason not to give it a try. Just keep in mind that your wins or losses are essentially set in stone.

How to withdraw your Credits and receive cash prizes

Horseplay’s collection isn’t very big, but it’s definitely unique. Remember that since the results of each game are determined by horse races, there is no RNG commanding your wins and losses behind the scenes. Still, you have a 100% random chance of walking away a winner (or a loser).

I’m showing you how to get the ball rolling in a few quick steps: 

• Click the “Plus” button next to your cash balance (which is indicated by the dollar sign). 
• Enter the amount of money you want to deposit. You can spend between $10 and $500 upfront. 
• Click “Deposit” and choose your preferred payment method from the next screen.
• Connect your bank account, enter your Visa, Mastercard or Discover card details, or use your Play+ card to continue. I chose to buy Credits through my bank since it was the easiest way to avoid potential credit card fees. 
• Select “Deposit” at the bottom of the screen. Cash will be transferred to your balance immediately. 
• Go back to the homepage and click the “Plus” button next to your Credits balance.
• Choose a Credit package from the next screen. Because you already deposited funds to use here, those Credits will reach your account right away. Now, you can begin playing games using your Credits.

How do Credits work? 

Unlike sweepstakes casinos, Horseplay doesn’t use a dual-currency system similar to Gold Coins (GC) and Sweeps Coins (SC). 

Credits are the only form of currency you’ll use to play games and withdraw prizes. You must first deposit cash. Once the money reaches your balance, you can buy Credits in neatly ordered packages ranging from $10 - $500. 

While most of the games here are available as demos, you’ll need to make a purchase if you want to withdraw prizes. Once the applicable playthrough is completed, eligible winnings can be withdrawn. Purchased Credits require 1x playthrough, while matching Bonus Credits require 10x playthrough within 30 days. 

Horseplay doesn’t offer a no deposit bonus for new players, so you’ll need to spend at least $10 on Credit purchases in order to check out the games here. This differentiates Horseplay from sweepstakes casinos, because sweepstakes sites are obligated to provide free coins when you register. Due to Horseplay’s function as a racebook, it ultimately requires you to spend money. 

Despite having a 4.5-star rating on the App Store based on 6,900+ reviews, Horseplay has a poor TrustPilot rating of 2.0/5 stars (90 reviews), but 80% of them left a one or two-star rating. This paints a concerning story. 

Some players are satisfied with the site’s customer support options and games, but most users complain about the 10x playthrough requirement on matching Bonus Credits and how much they’re losing. As I’ve mentioned before, all game outcomes are tied directly to the results of randomized horse races. 

In practice, there is no RTP or RNG determining how much you win. A few players also find Mr. Hand Pay’s endorsement of the site a bit misleading, since at the end of the day, Horseplay isn’t technically a casino (despite Jason almost presenting it as one).

This site is garbage. Minimum deposit is 10$ and they always leave yoh with 9$ and some change so you have to put more money in. This site is complete BS!!! Mr Handpay should be ashamed of himself for endorsing such a sh*tty site with absolutely no wins.

Mobile app and experience

Horseplay’s mobile app is available for iOS and comes highly recommended with a 4.5-star rating on the App Store based on 6,900+ reviews. One of the best features I noticed is that you can log into your account using Face ID or your fingerprint on supported devices. This is super rare to find at most sites.

Unfortunately, that’s right where my compliments end. Games run well, and there’s no lag when browsing menus, but the app is undersized and doesn’t fit properly on my iPhone 16. I’m almost positive this is related to an update and will be fixed soon, but in the meantime, it’s hard to use.

Responsible gaming features

Horseplay is one of the few sites I’ve personally reviewed with self-serve responsible gaming tools on deck. While logged in, open the side menu and click “Responsible Gaming” to check them out. You can set daily/weekly/monthly deposit limits, take a break, and/or self-exclude. 

Shorter breaks are made to last for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, or 1 year, depending on your preferences. Self-exclusions lock you out of the site permanently, and they’re registered by your state’s gaming commission. I also like that you can view changes to your deposit limit over time.

Horseplay works a lot differently than most sweepstakes casinos, but you’ll still need to remain aware of some important terms and conditions if you want to squeeze the most possible value out of your gaming experience. I’ve summarized the details below:
