Privacy policy
Who we are
Sweepsy (sweepsy.com) is an information and comparison site about sweepstakes-style social casinos, operated by Pacific Tide Media. We are not a casino. We do not accept wagers, handle coins, prizes or redemptions, or operate any of the sites we list. This policy explains what we collect when you use Sweepsy, why, and the control you have over it.
What we collect
If you only read the site
- Analytics. We use Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and Clicky, along with our own internal tools, to understand how the site is used: pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, referring site, and interactions such as scrolling and clicks. Microsoft Clarity may also record how you move through a page (mouse movement, clicks and scrolling) to produce heatmaps and session replays; it is set up to mask the text you type. These providers set their own cookies and process data under their own policies.
- Our own usage signals. Our servers record which pages are viewed and which links between Sweepsy pages are clicked, tied to a random visitor identifier stored in the
sw_vidcookie. This tells us which pages and paths are useful. It records the page address only, never what you type. Clicks on links to casinos are counted separately, as described under Affiliate links and click tracking below. - Your state. Availability differs by state, so we use the state you are in, derived from the approximate location of your IP address (the
ctn_geocookie, refreshed for up to a day). We use your state to decide which casino links we can show you: where a casino is not available or not promoted in your state, we show a link to our review or “Not available” instead of a link to the casino, and our click redirect checks the same thing when you follow a casino link. The state is used only for that; we never collect your precise location. - Security checks. Sign-in, sign-up and some tools use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. Turnstile may collect device and browser signals for that purpose.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) keeps standard request logs, including IP address, for security, abuse prevention and debugging.
If you create an account
An account is optional. If you create one we store your email address and sign-in credentials (a password, or a one-time sign-in link sent to your email), the state you select, the casinos you mark as playing, shortlisted or passed, the daily bonuses you claim and your streaks, the alerts you ask for, your ratings, your payout journal (the dates you requested and received a redemption, and how long it took — never amounts, balances, wins or losses), and any reports or submissions you send our editors, including payout times, offer changes and new casinos. We use your saved casinos and ratings to suggest casinos you may like; those suggestions stay inside your account. If you take part in member features such as the scout league, referrals or member games, we store the activity those features need: a public display name if you set one, your referral code, points and achievements. If you do not create an account, your saved list and preferences stay in your own browser and never reach us.
Bingo and other tools
When you create or join a bingo game, we store the board title, description and items, the name each player enters, which squares they mark and who won. Anyone with the game link can see the board and player names, so use a name you are happy to share. Games are deleted after 30 days.
Alerts and communications
If you subscribe to launch or bonus alerts we store your email address, the state and the kinds of alerts you asked for. If you contact us, we keep your message and the address you sent it from so we can reply.
Cookies and browser storage
Sweepsy sets or uses the following on your device:
- Sign-in session (Supabase auth cookies) — keeps you signed in. Essential.
sw_vid— a random visitor identifier for our own page-view and internal-link signals. Not linked to your account or email. Essential for abuse prevention; you can clear it at any time.ctn_geoand local storage — your approximate state for up to a day, plus your saved list and preferences in your browser.ctn_src— where your visit came from (a search engine, a link, an email), saved on your first page for up to 30 days so a casino click can be credited to it. Not linked to your account.ctn_vid— a random identifier set by our click redirect when you follow a casino link, so repeat clicks can be counted once. Kept for up to a year.- Analytics cookies from Google, Microsoft Clarity and Clicky — optional. Block them with your browser settings, a content blocker, or the opt-outs linked under Your choices below. The site works without them.
- Turnstile — a short-lived token proving a form was submitted by a person.
We honor your browser’s Do Not Track signal for our own beacons: when it is on, we do not record page views or internal clicks for that browser.
What we do with it
- Show you what is available where you live and remember your choices.
- Send the alerts and account emails you asked for, and reply when you contact us.
- Build aggregate player signals — ratings, payout times, availability — always published with the number of people behind them and never in a form that identifies you.
- Understand which pages and features help readers, and fix what does not.
- Keep the site secure, prevent abuse and fraud, and enforce our terms.
- Comply with the law and respond to lawful requests.
Affiliate links and click tracking
Sweepsy is free to read because some casinos pay us a commission when readers sign up through our links. Links to casinos go through our redirect service, which counts the click, records the page and placement it came from, the time, your approximate location (country and state), your browser type and the ctn_vid identifier, and passes a click identifier and campaign tags to the casino so it can attribute a sign-up to Sweepsy. If the casino is not available in your state, the redirect sends you to our review instead and records that the click was blocked. We do not send the casino your name, email or account data. Once you leave Sweepsy, the casino’s own privacy policy applies. Some casinos pay us a commission when readers sign up through our links, and our partnerships may influence which casinos we feature and where.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share data only with:
- Service providers who run the site for us under contract: Cloudflare (hosting, security, Turnstile, email), Supabase (database and sign-in), Resend (account emails), Google, Microsoft and Clicky (analytics), and Tide, our own content and link platform. They process data only to provide those services.
- Casinos you click through to, limited to the click identifier described above.
- Authorities and others when the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety and security of Sweepsy, our readers or the public.
- A successor if Sweepsy is sold or merged, under this policy.
We may publish aggregated, non-identifying statistics, such as how many players report a payout time.
How long we keep it
- Account data: until you delete your account. Deleting removes it from our live systems immediately; copies in encrypted backups expire within 30 days.
- Player reports and ratings: deleted with your account. Totals we have already published (such as an average payout time) may still reflect them, without identifying you.
- Our own page-view and click signals: 13 months, then aggregated or deleted.
- Bingo games: 30 days.
- Alert subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics providers: per their own retention settings.
- Server logs: a short rolling window for security.
What we never do
- Publish anything that identifies you, including your ratings and reports
- Sell your email address or your activity to anyone
- Ask you for casino passwords, payment details or account balances
- Track which casino offers you follow with our own beacons
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account and data. Signed-in members in every state can delete their account and all of its data at any time: My Sweepsy → Settings → Delete your account and data. It happens immediately and removes your email and sign-in, saved casinos, ratings, claim history, payout journal, reports, badges, alerts, preferences, our own record of pages you viewed while signed in, and messages you sent us from that email. You can also change your email or password there.
- Emails. Every alert and marketing email has an unsubscribe link. Account and security emails are sent only when needed.
- Analytics. Use your browser’s cookie controls, the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or Clicky’s opt-out to stop those providers. Turn on Do Not Track to stop our own beacons.
- Your state. Change or clear it from the state picker at the top of any page.
- Privacy rights. Depending on where you live (including California and other US states with privacy laws), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to receive a copy, to correct or delete it, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. To make a request, contact us as described below. We will verify the request through the email on your account and respond within the time the law allows. You may use an authorized agent where the law permits.
Your California privacy rights
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you specific rights. This section is our notice to you.
- What we collect. In the last 12 months we collected: identifiers (email address, a display name if you set one, cookie and visitor identifiers, IP address); internet and other electronic network activity (pages viewed, clicks, device and browser information); approximate geolocation (your state, derived from your IP address or chosen by you); the content you give us (ratings, reports, payout journal dates, messages); and inferences drawn from your saved casinos and ratings to suggest casinos. We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the law, and we never collect precise geolocation.
- Where it comes from. From you, from your browser and device, and from our analytics providers.
- Why. For the purposes listed under What we do with it, above. We keep each category for the periods under How long we keep it.
- Sale and sharing. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we have not done so in the last 12 months. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
- Your rights. You can ask to know the personal information we have collected about you, including the categories, sources, purposes and recipients; to get a copy of it; to correct it; and to delete it. We will not discriminate against you for using these rights.
- How to ask. To delete, use Delete your account and data in My Sweepsy; it is open to every member, wherever you live, and takes effect immediately. For any other request, or to delete data when you do not have an account, email hi@sweepsy.com. We verify a request by confirming it from the email address it concerns, and respond within 45 days (we may extend once by another 45 days and tell you why). An authorized agent may make a request for you with your signed permission.
- Shine the Light. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing.
Age
Sweepsy is for adults. You must be 21 or older to use Sweepsy or create an account. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21; if you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, stored with an established provider, and reachable only by staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so keep your sign-in details private and tell us at once if you think your account has been accessed without your permission.
Changes
We will update this page when what we collect or how we use it changes, and update the date at the top. For material changes we will also tell account holders by email or with a notice on the site.
