The sister site of one of the most recognizable names in the sweepstakes casino industry will permanently shut down later this month.

In an email sent out to players on Wednesday, Coin Wizard Games announced it will be closing its doors for good on Oct. 28. Coin Wizard Games is the sister site of Golden Hearts Games.

“We are reaching out today to let you know that we will be closing Coin Wizard Games effective October 28, 2026,” the email with the subject line Update: Coin Wizard Games Closure read. “We understand that this news may be disappointing and come as a surprise. Rest assured that the sister website of Coin Wizard Games, Golden Hearts Games, will continue to provide all of the same games and great experiences that Coin Wizard has provided, with 1200+ games from over twenty game content suppliers.

“If you already have a Golden Hearts Games account, you can continue to use that account as you always have.”

Sweeps Coin gameplay ends Oct. 21, full shutdown a week later

From now until Oct. 28, Coin Wizard Games will shut down in a phased approach.

According to the email:

  • Starting Oct. 14: Gold Coin purchases on Coin Wizard Games will be discontinued. However, existing Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins can still be used for gameplay during the transition period.

  • Through Oct. 21 at 12 p.m. ET: Players can continue participating in games using either Gold Coins or Sweeps Coins.

  • After Oct. 21 at 12 p.m. ET: Sweeps Coin gameplay will end. Gold Coin games will remain available until October 28, 2026, at 12 p.m. ET.

  • Until Oct. 28 at 12 p.m. ET: Eligible players can redeem their redeemable Sweeps Coins for digital gift cards through Prizeout or receive funds via ACH bank deposit. Existing redemption terms and eligibility requirements will continue to apply, and requests will be processed on an expedited basis.

  • After Oct. 28 at 12 p.m. ET: Coin Wizard Games accounts and website access will be discontinued. Players will also lose the ability to submit new prize redemption requests.

Background on Golden Hearts Games ecosystem

This isn’t a story of a new sweeps casino operator launching recently only to flame out and shut down. The company behind Coin Wizard Games has a longer history, and its closure needs to be understood in the context of that company and the mounting pressure on the sweeps market.

Golden Hearts Games Inc. was established in September 2019 and launched publicly in August 2020. Coin Wizard Games was its new project, launching in May 2026.

So Coin Wizard Games may be a relatively recent name in the sweeps casino landscape, but it is not an independent startup whose entire business is disappearing. It sits within the same corporate operation as Golden Hearts Games, which has a much longer history.

The clearest clue to the reasoning behind the shutdown is where players are being directed next: Golden Hearts Games. Rather than abandoning the market altogether, the company appears to be concentrating its efforts on the platform with the longer-established identity.

That would make sense in an industry facing mounting regulatory and a shrinking market.

Maintaining two separate brands requires a lot of resources. Each platform requires marketing, promotions, customer support, payment processing and compliance. Consolidating into one platform might make sense for a company that may be feeling the revenue pains of losing significant markets to legislative bans in 2025 and 2026, including California and New York.

In that sense, Coin Wizard Games’ closure looks less like a sudden failure by an untested newcomer and more like a possible portfolio decision by an established operator.

But … what if the shutdown means something else?

Of course … on the off chance this move isn’t a consolidation effort, and rather a closure of a dual-currency brand in order to dedicate resources to a site with an alternative gameplay model that evades most sweeps ban bills, there would be precedent.

Over the past two years, the dual-currency model has faced growing opposition from legislators and regulators, forcing operators to reconsider how they structure their businesses. Gaming attorney Josh Kirschner told Sweepsy that the industry has reached an “inflection point,” with companies exploring alternative formats that offer greater legal certainty and long-term viability.

There are already examples of companies taking this shut-down-in-order-to-pivot route.

Kickr Games Play Ltd. shut down Kickr in March before launching GetGud.win, a platform centered on skill-based games rather than casino-style games. That distinction is important because sweeps bans target dual-currency systems built around casino-style gameplay — but not online skill games.

After closing Mega Frenzy, a popular dual-currency sweeps casino, Heuston Gaming introduced Zumba Cards several months later. The new platform uses a single-currency structure rather than the traditional Gold Coin and Sweeps Coin combination. It belongs to a broader wave of role-playing game (RPG) card platforms that have entered the market this year, including Card Crush and Clash 5. These sites emphasize card collection and competitive battles, but also incorporate casino-style games into the experience.

These examples show how operators are experimenting with different formats as scrutiny intensifies. Rather than leaving the market entirely, some companies are shuttering existing products and redirecting their efforts toward alternative models.

We don’t suspect this is the case with Golden Hearts Games.

But only time will tell.
