Another week, another new gameplay model emerges in the sweepstakes gaming industry.
Or, perhaps not a gameplay model — but a new way for players to acquire Sweeps Coins in states where traditional dual-currency gaming at sweeps casinos is no longer allowed, such as California, New York, New Jersey, and Louisiana.
At the sweeps casino platform AceBet.cc, players see a tab in the left-hand menu called Surveys and Offers. If they click on it, they’re directed to a hub of surveys and app-related tasks they can complete in exchange for free Sweeps Coins.
No casino-style gaming, no purchases.
Just the willingness to put in the time.
In a nutshell, this feature from AceBet lets players choose from two main options: Completing third-party surveys, or participating app-based offers where they download an app and complete specific tasks to earn the Sweeps Coins. These Sweeps Coins can then be used on the site’s casino-style games and eventually redeemed for real cash.
Surveys come with small rewards but little time commitment
The survey options vary in terms of the Sweeps Coins reward and in terms of the estimated time and requirements. Players view a grid of clickable cards, but only the estimated time of the survey, the Sweeps Coins reward, and the star rating from other players shows. No information about the survey or its requirements are presented.
Some surveys can take just a few minutes, while others may take 10–17 minutes. Rewards range from smaller amounts, such as 0.16 or 0.24 Sweeps Coins, to 1 Sweeps Coin or more.
When a player clicks on a survey, AceBet will first ask a few short qualification questions. The answers to these questions determine whether the player fits the audience the survey provider is looking for. If they qualify, they get sent to an external website to complete the survey. Then, when they’re done, they are redirected back to AceBet and receive their Sweeps Coins.
Not all players will qualify for every survey. Sweepsy answered qualification questions for two surveys, and was only approved for one. However, we still received 0.01 Sweeps Coins for answering the qualification questions. We then earned 0.06 Sweeps Coins when we qualified for the other survey, before getting redirected to the third-party site, surveymeasure.com.
These were the requirement questions for the survey we did qualify for:
- What is your education?
- What is your ethnicity?
- What is your household income?
- Are you the primary grocery shopper for your household?
- Which of the following streaming services have you heard of?
- If you could travel to any place in the world, where would you go and what would you do there?
Offers focus on downloading apps and completing milestones
The offers and games portion works a little differently than the surveys.
Players can select a third-party game or app, download it, and then complete milestones in exchange for Sweeps Coins. The reward is often divided into multiple steps, so players can earn along the way rather than having to complete the entire offer before receiving anything.
For example, one World of Warships offer awards up to 7.34 Sweeps Coins. After downloading the World of Warships app, a player can earn 0.14 Sweeps Coins for registering, another 2 Sweeps Coins for unlocking a Tier 1 ship and using it for two days, and a final 5.20 Sweeps Coins for unlocking a Tier 2 ship and using it for four days. The offer is for new users only and must be completed within 30 days.
There are a wide range of apps players can download and complete tasks on, including Game of Thrones, Mech Arena, Merge Gardens, SoFi Coach, OperaGX, AARP Rewards, Talkspace, and TurboTax, among others. Sweeps Coin rewards vary dramatically, with some offers worth less than 1 Sweeps Coin and others worth 100 or even more than 700 Sweeps Coins.
Are other sweeps casinos doing something similar?
As of right now, AceBet may not be the only sweepstakes casino providing these types of Sweeps Coin rewards for completing third-party surveys and offers.
In their terms and conditions, Golden Hearts Games and Coin Wizard, both owned by Golden Hearts Games Inc., discuss a similar feature called their Offer Wall.
Via a partnership with Revenue Universe, or RevU, the sites claim to have an Offer Wall very similar to AceBet’s platform, featuring opportunities from a variety of companies, brands, products, and services. Apparently, players can click an Earn Free Coins tab and will be directed to the Offer Wall.
However, Sweepsy did not see any such option after creating accounts for both Golden Hearts Games and Coin Wizard. In their terms, the sites say Offer Wall availability may change, and they may restrict access for certain players, or end the program altogether at its discretion. We’re wondering if that last option has happened.
Where this new feature stands among sweeps operator pivots
As we enter the end of the second consecutive year of intense scrutiny and pressure on the traditional dual-currency model employed by sweeps casinos, operators have become creative and pivoted in many different directions to evade dual-currency bans.
Most of those pivots have come in the form of alternate gameplay models, with examples including single-currency ecosystems, subscription models, advance deposit wagering platforms, online skill games, and more. AceBet has, for instance, started actually shipping players physical trading card packs (instead of digital Goin Coin bundles) and awarding free Sweeps Coins as part of those physical product purchases.
And some operators have added features to their platforms that have nothing to do with gameplay — much like AceBet’s surveys and offers.
One good example is Modo Boxes at Modo.us.
The Modo Box platform is essentially a gamified loot box platform. Modo Boxes are mystery boxes that have random prizes. Users buy Box Tickets, a currency used only to open boxes. They have no cash value and are separate from Modo’s casino-style games and Sweeps Coins.
Before opening a box, users can see the possible prizes, estimated values, and odds for each item. Rewards can include physical products such as electronics, household goods and merchandise, as well as digital rewards like gift cards, downloadable content, and Gold Coins.
Every box guarantees a prize, and Modo says the total value of the reward will be at least equal to the box’s purchase price, though that calculation can include the value of Gold Coins.
The model is different from AceBet’s surveys and offers, as those are directly tied to Sweeps Coins, whereas Modo Boxes operate separately from the Sweeps Coin system.
